Open position: 1 short-term Post-Doctoral Fellow position in the NETI Lab Budapest.
We are seeking one Post-Doctoral Fellow in the field of urban data science, urban mobility, and networks of social and economic interaction. The post-doctoral position includes 100% research in the project “Mobility, social- and economic networks, and inequality in cities during the pandemic”. The project combines multiple data sources on human mobility, administrative data on employees, and firms to understand the impact of COVID-19 on mobility patterns and spatial inequality in urban areas. The position can be filled part-time or full time; can be done remotely, if necessary.
8 months starting from May 1, 2022 or as early as possible until December 31, 2022. The position can be prolonged.
Networks, Technology and Innovations (NETI) Lab is an interdisciplinary research group established in 2020 at the Corvinus University of Budapest, lead by Balazs Lengyel and Laszlo Lorincz, and external academic advisor Cesar Hidalgo. Our research is focused on data-driven understanding of the effect of innovation, globalization, and technologies on the future of work and society. The Post-Doctoral Fellow is expected to take an active role in analysis using statistical methods and data mining techniques, visualizations and writing scientific papers for leading interdisciplinary journals, leading field journals in physics, economics, geography, sociology or related and/or leading data science conferences. The collaboration with other group members is necessary. Contribution to teaching and supervising students is possible, according to the new fellow’s preference.
SALARY AND COMPENSATION
The monthly salary full time is HUF 600K before taxation that is a competitive salary and allows a good quality of life in Budapest. The package also includes budget for conference visits (EUR 3,000 annually).
- PhD (ongoing or finished) in Economics, Sociology, Geography, Statistics, Physics, Network Science, Computer Science or related.
- Good skills in statistics and visualization techniques
- Experience with statistical software
- Good programming skills (Python, R)
- Command of English language
- PhD already granted
- Publications in top field- or interdisciplinary journals and related to the research topics • Affinity to move to Budapest for the project period
- Experience working with geospatial data and large datasets
